[origin: WO2008129141A1] The invention relates to a method for cleaning a rolling mill roll (2), comprising a cleaning step in which a nozzle operates in cleaning mode while being traversed parallel to the axis of the roll at a cleaning speed. The method is essentially characterized in that it also includes a defining step in which there is defined, on the roll (2), at least one work region bounded by a start-of-work position and an end-of-work position, and in that the cleaning step is limited to the work region. It advantageously includes a travel step in which the nozzle, operating in a mode other than cleaning mode, is traversed parallel to the roll (2) axis from an end-of-work position, and/or to a start-of-work position.
