[origin: WO2008119090A1] The invention relates to a method for establishing a setup parameter value (14) for a bending press (2), according to which at least one setup parameter value (14) for the bending press (2), particularly the immersion depth of a die (23) of the bending press (2), is established by a control device (3) from at least one characteristic (7) of a workpiece to be bent in a bending process and a specified value (10) for a target variable (11) on the bent workpiece (6), whereby a characteristic (7) is formed by the electromagnetic reaction of the workpiece (4) to an alternating electromagnetic field generated by an exciter unit (21) and penetrating the workpiece (4), said reaction being determined as a measured value (9) by eddy current measurement using a sensor unit (22). After partial or complete performance of the bending process, when the workpiece (6) is relieved of load, an actual value (16) of the target variable (11), particularly the bend angle (12), is measured and linked to the measured value (9) of the eddy current measurement and to the setup parameter value (14) in effect prior to relieving the load.
