[origin: EP2135834A1] The crane has an extension arm with a controller, and global positioning system (GPS)-receivers (26) receiving satellite-based systems for determining a global position of different crane components such as main extension arm (14), pointed extension arm (16), erecting crane extension arm (20), anchoring trestles (18A, 18B), erecting crane ballast (22) and/or hook block. A reference-GPS receiver (28) is arranged near a rotary axis (12) of an upper carriage (10) of the crane. Values derived from the receivers are wirelessly transmitted to the controller.
