The knob (1) has a cylindrical base with a center axis, where the knob is rotatable around the center axis. A lateral surface (7) of the cylindrical base comprises two recesses (2). Each recess comprises a flat partial surface (4) aligned parallel to the center axis, where the partial surfaces of both the recesses are parallel to each other. The partial surfaces form an actuation surface for rotation of the knob. The recesses comprise a lower transient area (5) via which the partial surfaces pass into the lateral surface of the cylindrical base. An independent claim is also included for a household appliance comprising a knob.

Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Knebel (1) zur Betätigung eines Haushaltsgeräts, insbesondere eines Gargeräts. Der Knebel (1) weist einen zylindrischen Grundkörper auf und ist um die Mittelachse des zylindrischen Grundkörpers drehbar. Erfindungsgemäß besitzt die Mantelfläche (7) des zylindrischen Grundkörpers zwei Ausnehmungen (2). Jede Ausnehmung (2) weist eine parallel zur Mittelachse (8) ausgerichtete ebene Teilfläche (4). Die ebenen Teilflächen (4) der beiden Ausnehmungen (2) sind zueinander im Wesentlichen parallel. Die ebenen Teilflächen (4) bilden eine Betätigungsfläche zum Drehen des Knebels (1). Darüber hinaus besitzt der Knebel (1) Betätigungsflächen zum Drücken und zum Ziehen des Knebels (1).
