Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2447867A] A method and control unit for monitoring a pump 102 which operates to pump sewage from a wet well, in which the current 204 drawn by the pump is detected along with the speed 202 of operation of the pump and the wet well level 203. The detected values are compared with stored values in a look up table 205to determine whether the pump is blocked. The lookup table may be configured to conform to the characteristics of a particular pumping station. The lookup table may comprise upper and lower threshold values for each parameter. In an embodiment any parameter falling below a predetermined threshold is indicative of a blockage. In a further embodiment the three parameters falling below a threshold is indicative of a blockage. The stored parameters may be rate of change parameters of the measured parameters. In a still further embodiment if a blockage is detected a self clean routine is initiated. An alarm may be given if it is determined that the pump is still blocked.
