[origin: EP2138630A2] The cylinder (12) has a heatable cylinder barrel (14) rotatably supported by cylinder covers (18), which comprise a distance from each other in a direction of a cylinder axis (16). A part of an outer circumferential surface of the barrel is exposed to an external load, which is partially caused by a pressure cap. The covers are inwardly displaced in a direction of the cylinder axis under maintaining a mutual distance based on two edges (20) of the barrel. The barrel has an annular chamber through which a heating medium i.e. vapor, flows. An independent claim is also included for a dryer arrangement comprising a cylinder.
