[origin: TW200908800A] This invention relates to a circuit arrangement for igniting and operating a gas-discharge lamp with a half-bridge arrangement, which operates as a low-frequency-setting rectifier; a lamp-reactor (L1) and a resonant capacitor (C1), which form a resonant circuit (17); and a smoothing reactor (L2), which is connected in series to the lamp, where the size of the resonant capacitor is designed, so that during a normal operation of the lamp a voltage ripple of over 100V from maximum to maximum is applied to the resonant capacitor, and the size of the smoothing reactor is designed, so that it can filter mostly the voltage ripple, and a switching frequency is simultaneously between 200 and 500 kHz.
