Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2008134912A1] In order to apply medications in the form of active substances bound in a liquid or paste-like matrix in the ear canal, the invention proposes a novel means (1) able to absorb and locally deliver a medication. Said means comprises a sack-like receptacle part (2) in which a preferably textile tampon able to absorb the medication can be accommodated, and an elastic rubber retaining washer (3) serving to fix the receptacle part (2) in the outer ear. The receptacle part (2) is firmly connected to a pulling device (4), such as a string, via the retaining washer (3). The retaining washer (3) serves to fix the receptacle part (2) in the outer ear canal and is supported for that purpose on one side behind the anthelix (106) and on the other side behind the tragus (108). In a preferred embodiment, the retaining washer (3) is made from a flat material stamped from foam rubber. The applicator can be sold with a charge of medication.
