[origin: WO2008119337A2] The invention relates to a carbonator (4), preferably an inline carbonator, mounted on the pressurised liquid outlet (11), preferably on the diaphragm pump (3) in order to carbonate degasified beer, preferably with CO<SUP>2</SUP>. The pump (3) is preferably driven by at least one 12 volt motor (35). The motor (35) is supplied with energy via the mains supply circuit (37). The energy supply can be variably routed to the motor (35) via the mains supply circuit (37) in various stages, influencing the speed of the motor (35) and the pump pressure of the pump (3). The pump (3) is also preferably a suction pump and can draw the liquid to be carbonated, preferably degasified beer, from a bag-in-box container.
