Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2448165A] A masonry support for use primarily, but not exclusively, in the building industry to support a cladding or a facing for a building structure comprises an angle-section support member (1) and a bracket (2) which are adapted to be connected together in use. The support member (1) comprises three portions (4, 5, 6). The first portion (4) is adapted to be retained in use in a substantially horizontal position to provide a support for masonry. The second portion (5) is angled with respect to the first portion (4) such that, in use, it is supported by a forwardly-facing surface (7) of the bracket (3). The third portion (6) is angled with respect to the second portion (5). The bracket (2) comprises a back plate (8), which is adapted to be secured to a building structure, and at least one projecting side plate (9) which defines a seating (11,12) for the support member (1). The seating is formed by an aperture in the side plate (9) that defines a forwardly-opening mouth (11) that narrows in a direction towards the back plate (9) and that joins a slot (12). A surface of the side plate (9) defining at least a part of a lower portion of the mouth (u) forms the forwardly-facing surface (7) that supports the second portion (5) of the bracket (2). In some embodiments of the invention a clip (3) can be used to retain the support member (1) in a fixed position after it has been seated in the bracket (2).
