[origin: WO2008142342A2] Method of monitoring the effectiveness of a catalytic converter storing the NOxs located in an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine and 5 engine comprising a device implementing said method. The present invention relates to a method of monitoring the operating state of a catalytic converter storing the NOxs of an engine, characterized in that it comprises at least the following steps: 10 - determination of the quantity of reducers used, - determination of the quantity of nitrogen oxides stored in the catalytic converter, - establishment of a diagnostic report on the operating state of the converter based on the quantity of reducers used and the quantity of nitrogen oxides stored 15 in the catalytic converter. Another object of the invention relates to an engine comprising a device implementing said method.
