[origin: WO2008125480A1] The invention relates to a water-bearing household appliance (1), particularly a dishwashing machine (1), having a housing (2) with a housing edge (4) which defines a washing compartment opening (8), and having a washing compartment (6) which is enclosed by the housing (2) and which is defined by the housing and by a seal (16) and which can be closed and thereby sealed by a device door which can be positioned to abut the seal (16), and having lighting means (20) arranged in the area between the housing edge (4) and the seal (16), for illuminating the washing compartment (6). The invention is characterized in that the lighting means (20) are connected to at least one ribbon cable (18).
