[origin: WO2008128884A1] The invention relates to a fuel injector (10) for injecting fuel into the combustion space of an internal combustion engine. An injection valve element (32) is actuated by the relief of pressure in a control space (40), which is applied with a system pressure (p<SUB>sys</SUB>), wherein the relief of pressure in the control space (40) takes place by means of a pressure equalizing shift valve (24). The valve element (48) of said shift valve (24) opens or closes a valve seat (46). The control space (40), the valve seat (46), and an inflow space (58) are disposed radially symmetrically (78).
