[origin: WO2008138799A1] In order to improve a cable, which comprises a cable inner body, in which electrical wire strands run in the longitudinal cable direction, a cable casing enclosing the cable inner body, the casing being disposed between a cable outer body and the cable inner body, and at least one information carrier unit disposed inside the cable outer surface, such that the range of communication between the information carrier unit and the write/read device is increased, it is proposed to provide the information carrier unit with an antenna unit, which can be coupled to a write/read device by parasitic electromagnetic fields between the antenna unit and at least two of the electric wire strands of the cable inner body.
