Abstract (en)
A label assembly (10), and method of making such a label assembly (10). The label (10) comprising a base label (4); a laminar label component (12) overlying at least part of the base label (4); an overlaminate (14) overlying and adhered to the base label (4); a label component (12); and a tab (6) separate to the base label (4) and label component (12). The tab (6) does not extend across a full width of the overlaminate (14) and label (10), and is preferably disposed in a corner region of the label (10). An extended portion (15) of the overlaminate (14) overlies and adheres to an upper surface of the tab (6). The tab (6) is formed from a portion of the base label (4) of an adjacent label (10) produced on a web carrying a line of such labels. The tab (6) furthermore, and a region of the adjacent base label (4) forming the tab (6) has an underside that is adhesive free (or has neutralized adhesive) to allow the tab (6) and so overlaminate (14) to be more easily peeled from the container and the label opened, when the label (10) is applied to a container.
