Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2008152276A2] The method is applied in an antitheft device (1) operating by locking the steering column of the vehicle. The method is of the type in which an electric power supply (ALIM) allowing a locking of the antitheft device is supplied to the antitheft device only when an electric power supply circuit of the vehicle engine is in an open state and in which a locking instruction (V/D), an item of information of vehicle stoppage (Vv/) and an item of information of engine stoppage (Vm/) are taken into account to allow the locking. According to the invention, the method also takes account of an item of information (+APC/) representing the open or closed state of the electric power supply circuit of the engine in order to authorize the locking (S1) only when the engine is stopped (Vm/=1) and the engine electric power supply circuit is effectively open (+APC/=1). This method is particularly suitable for a vehicle fitted with an automatic engine stop/restart functionality.
