[origin: WO2008131943A1] The invention relates to a document shredder having a housing, a cutting system arranged in said housing with a pertaining drive unit and control unit, a feed chute for sheet material, arranged above the cutting system, an inlet opening extending from the top of the housing and an outlet opening that is oriented towards a material feed gap of the cutting system, the feed chute being defined by two narrow faces and a guide wall and a mating wall. At least one feeler element is mounted in the housing. Said feeler partially extends through at least one of the wide walls of the feed chute several times and at least partially projects into the feed chute. When the feeler element is deflected from a reference position, it actuates a switch which interrupts the drive of the cutting system.
