[origin: EP1997819A1] A method for the production of quaternised scopine esters of optionally substituted diphenylacetic acids, involves the one-step reaction of quat. salts of scopine with the corresponding acids or their derivatives such as esters. A method for the production of compounds of formula (1) involves reacting compounds of formula (2) and (3) together in a single step. X, Y : negative anions; R : H, OH, methyl, ethyl, trifluoromethyl, difluoromethyl or fluoro; R 1>, R 2>1-5C alkyl (optionally substituted with 3-6C cycloalkyl or halogen), or combined to form 3-5C alkylene; R 3>, R 4>, R 3a>, R 4a>H, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, OH, CN, NO 2or halo; R 6>, R 6a>H, or combined to form a single bond; R 5>OH, methoxy, ethoxy, O-N-succinimido, O-N-phthalimido, phenoxy, nitrophenoxy, fluorophenoxy, pentafluorophenoxy, vinyloxy, 2-allyloxy, -S-methyl, -S-ethyl or -S-phenyl .
