[origin: WO2008145463A1] The invention relates to a device for transmitting a torque to a screwing tool element (1) in the form of a socket for wrenches, a ratchet extension or the like, with a polygonal output stub (5) for inserting into a matching polygonal opening (2) of the screwing tool element (1), with a latching ball (6) which lies in a ball-receiving cavity (7) of a polygonal surface (8) of the polygonal output stub (5) and is intended for entering a latching cutout (4) of a polygonal surface (3) of the polygonal opening (2), with a transmission element which is arranged in an axial cavity (9) and acts with a first section (12) on the latching ball (6) and the second section (10, 21') of which is displaced in the axial direction of the axial cavity (9) by a switch-over switch (13, 22) when switching over from a release position into a locking position in such a manner that the screw tool element (1) can be pulled off from the polygonal output stub (5) in the release position and is held on the polygonal output stub (5) in the locking position.
