Abstract (en)
The method involves driving a weaving machine (1), using a drive that comprises a motor. A weft yarn (2) is drawn from a reel (6). Quality characteristics of the yarn are detected by a sensor (11.1) e.g. optical or capacitive sensor. Force parameters such as speed, acceleration, traction force and expansion, are detected by another sensor (11.2) i.e. contactless sensor, during insertion of the thread. Rotational speed of the drive is controlled based on the force parameters and the quality characteristics. Weft yarn specifications and weft yarn data are stored. The quality characteristics are selected from the group consisting of slub, thin place, contamination, knurl and changes of color, diameter or texture. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a weaving machine, comprising a control unit.

In einem Verfahren zur Steuerung einer Webmaschine (1) mit einer Fachbildevorrichtung, einer Schusseintragsvorrichtung (3, 4, 5.1, 5.2, 6, 9, 12) zum Eintragen von Schussfäden (2), einem Riet (8) zum Anschlagen der eingetragenen Schussfäden, und mindestens einem steuerbaren Antrieb (16), um die Webmaschine anzutreiben, wird mittels der Webmaschine (1) ein Gewebe erzeugt. Zusätzlich wird in dem Verfahren ein Schussfaden (2) von einer Garnspule (6) abgezogen und mittels eines ersten Sensors (11.1 ein Qualitätsmerkmal des abgezogenen Schussfadens erfasst, während eines Schusseintrags jeweils mehrmals mittels eines zweiten Sensors (11.2) eine Belastungsgrösse des Schussfadens (2) erfasst und auf Grund der erfassten Belastungsgrösse und auf Grund des erfassten Qualitätsmerkmals des Schussfadens die Drehzahl des Antriebs (16) gesteuert.
