[origin: EP2159526A2] A loose material (LM) (7) processing plant (1) has a transporter and supplier (2,4) for LM, a pneumatic transport gas supply (9) and heat exchanger(s) (3) for cooling and/or heating LM. Heat exchange (HE) fluid flows through HE tubes in the HE section (20) of a housing (17). LM is combined with transport gas at a delivery point (13) upstream of the HE section. LM inlet openings feed into a collection chamber (16) in the housing. A processing plant (1) for loose material (LM) (7) has a transporter for LM (2), a supplier for LM (4), a transport gas supply (9) and heat exchanger(s) (3) for cooling and/or heating LM. Heat exchange (HE) tubes (with inlet and outlet openings) are located in the HE section (20) of a heat exchanger housing (17) having HE fluid inlet and outlet openings (24, 25) via which the fluid flows into, through and out of the housing. A delivery point (13), at which LM is combined with transport gas, is located upstream of the inlet for LM into the HE section. All LM inlet openings feed into a collection chamber (16) located in the housing between the delivery point and the inlet openings. The LM and transport gas supplies are coordinated to cause pneumatic transport of LM, at least in the HE tubes.
