[origin: WO2008148475A1] The invention relates to a method for the production of waterproof, breathable footwear, said footwear having an outer leg having a lower end, an inner leg having a lower end, an insole having a circumferential outer edge, and an outsole, said inner leg having a waterproof, water vapor-permeable functional layer on the side facing the outer leg, characterized in that at least one of the seams relating to a waterproof, water vapor-permeable functional layer is configured such that a strip made of a thermoplastic material is initially placed between the parts of the footwear to be connected in the planned region of the seam, wherein the strip has a melting temperature in the range of 60°C to 85°C, that the parts are subsequently sewn together, and that, after sewing, the strip is caused to melt at least in the region of the seam.
