[origin: CA2724399A1] Disclosed is a triggering mechanism for devices used for rescuing or locating persons in avalanches and reducing the degree to which persons are buried in avalanches. Said triggering mechanism (3, 3'), which can be manually triggered by the wearer, is characterized in that the same comprises radio equipment (17, 17') encompassing a power supply unit (24), a transmitter, a receiver, an antenna (35), and a data processing unit. Furthermore, the disclosed triggering mechanism (3, 3') can receive a radio signal from the radio equipment of at least one additional triggering mechanism in order to actuate the internal triggering mechanism (3, 3'), the radio equipment (17) is an integral part of the triggering mechanism (3, 3') or is an additional, separate part that is functionally connected or can be releasably connected to the triggering mechanism (3, 3'), the triggering mechanism (3, 3') comprises an actuator that can cause the internal triggering mechanism (3, 3') to be externally actuated when a radio signal is received, and the radio equipment (17, 17') can have at least the following switching states: a1) only the internal triggering mechanism (3, 3') is actuated when being manually actuated by the wearer; and b1) the triggering mechanism (3, 3') can be externally actuated by a radio signal received from an additional triggering mechanism, thus allowing another person to externally trigger an avalanche rescue device.
