[origin: WO2008142125A1] Disclosed is a sliding door (3) for a vehicle, comprising a door leaf (4) which allows a door opening (2) of a vehicle body (1) to be closed, a guide rail (5) arranged on the door leaf (4), a guide block (9), inside which the guide rail (5) is slidingly mounted, and a coupling element (6) that has a first rotational shaft (10), by means of which the coupling element (6) can be connected to a vehicle body (1), and a second rotational shaft (10), by means of which the coupling element (6) is connected to the guide block (9). The door leaf (4) features a closed position within the vehicle body (1) and an open position in which the door leaf (4) largely unblocks the door opening (2) of the vehicle body (1) and is disposed approximately parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body (1). The door leaf (4) also features a first intermediate position (Z1) in which the coupling element (6) is swiveled outward such that a first edge (4b) of the door leaf (4) protrudes from the vehicle body, said first edge (4b) facing the coupling element (6), while a second edge (4a) thereof located across from the first edge (4b) continues to be positioned nearly on the plane of the door opening (2) of the vehicle body (1). Furthermore, the door leaf (4) features a second intermediate position (Z2) in which the second edge (4a) thereof also protrudes from the vehicle body (1) such that the door leaf (4) extends approximately parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body (1). Finally, a locking mechanism (13) is provided which prevents the door leaf (4) from sliding at least as long as the door leaf (4) is located between the first intermediate position (Z1) and the second intermediate position (Z2).
