[origin: WO2009015789A1] The invention relates to a numerically controlled machine tool (10) having at least five driven machine axes for the positioning and orientation of a tool (18) of the machine tool (10) relative to a workpiece (16) to be machined by the tool (18), and a closed control circuit separate from a controller for adjusting the machine axis positions and a controller or regulating unit of a main drive that may be present, the control circuit comprising an actuator (24) to be actuated independently of the machine axes and the main drive that may be present for moving the tool (18) relative to the workpiece (16), and a sensor (38) for detecting the actual value of a machining-relevant control variable, and which serves to regulate the control variable to a predetermined target value by actuating the actuator (24). The invention further relates to a method for machining a workpiece (16) by means of a tool (18) of a numerically controlled machine tool (10).
