Vacuum cleaner e.g. floor vacuum cleaner (1) has housing (4) in which a motor-operated suction fan and a device for generating the power supply of the fan motor are disposed. A battery and a cable drum are arranged in the housing as permanently integrated components so as to selectively operate the vacuum cleaner on battery power and on mains voltage. An independent claim is also included for the method of operation of the vacuum cleaner.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Staubsauger, insbesondere Bodenstaubsauger (1), mit einem Gehäuse (4), in dem ein motorbetriebenes Sauggebläse sowie eine Vorrichtung zur Herstellung der Energieversorgung des Gebläsemotors (10) angeordnet ist, wobei innerhalb des Gehäuses (4) sowohl ein Akkumulator (5) als auch eine Kabeltrommel (2) für den wahlweisen Betrieb des Staubsaugers (1) im Akkumulator- und im Netzspannungsbetrieb als fest integrierte Bestandteile angeordnet sind. Damit sowohl ein Netzbetrieb als auch ein netzunabhängiger Betrieb ermöglicht wird, ist der Gebläsemotor als auf eine Nennspannung von 230 Volt ausgelegter Universalmotor (100) ausgebildet und im Akkumulator-Betrieb mit Feldschwächung betreibbar.
