[origin: WO2009003559A2] The invention relates to a method for detecting by measuring an imprinted printable material in a printing press, especially in a sheet-fed press. According to said method, a section of a printable material, especially a printed sheet, a printed image or a printer's imprint printed onto the printable material outside the printed image is detected by measuring using a sensor, a measuring zone of the sensor on the printable material being illuminated using a measurement illumination source. The invention is characterized in that the measurement illumination source for illuminating the measuring zone and at least one such secondary light source of the press the light of which may reach the measuring zone, are operated in such a manner that the frequency of the light provided by the measurement illumination source is lower than the frequency of the light provided by the one or more secondary light sources.
