[origin: WO2009006955A1] A device (2) for the thermal treatment of food has a treatment space (4) and an endless conveyor belt (6) for transporting the food. The conveyor belt (6) is arranged such that at least in some regions it runs linearly (11) and in some regions it runs arcuately (13) in the treatment space. In this case, the conveyor belt (6) has chain segments (10) which extend transversely in relation to the conveying direction (8, 9) and are formed such that they can be displaced in one another, at least on one side. The device is characterized by one or more food trays (12), on which food can be stored and which are arranged such that they are carried by the conveyor belt (6).
