[origin: WO2009006939A1] The process of the invention for producing workpieces composed of aluminium alloy comprises the steps of casting of the aluminium alloy into a casting mould, removal of the cast blank from the casting mould immediately it has solidified and forming (forging) of the cast blank. This process makes it possible to produce aluminium alloy workpieces which have the mechanical properties of a forged part without requiring the preliminary steps such as continuous casting, extrusion or further preshaping steps such as upsetting, forge rolling or transverse rolling which are necessary in the conventional forging process.
