Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009007050A2] The invention relates to a printing press, preferably a sheet-fed offset printing press, which has, in each printing unit, an inking unit with ink applicator rolls and with a plate cylinder which carries at least one printing plate, wherein the inking unit transfers printing ink which is metered by means of the ink applicator rolls onto the printing plate which is positioned on the plate cylinder. The printing ink is transferred from the respective printing plate onto printed sheets which are moved through between a printing-blanket cylinder and an impression cylinder relative to the plate cylinder. The ink applicator rolls can be thrown on and off relative to the plate cylinder, wherein at least the throwing off of the ink applicator rolls and the throwing off of the printing-blanket cylinder or forme cylinder relative to the impression cylinder can be carried out in such a way that, in the thrown-on position, printed sheets can be printed when the ink supply is thrown off, with a residual inked image by means of residual ink which is present on the plate cylinder or printing-blanket cylinder. The process control is carried out as a function of prepress stage measured data or inline measured data.
