[origin: WO2008151845A2] The present invention relates to methods for modulating the glycosylation status of human alpha-1 antitrypsin (A1AT) in mammalian host cells and methods for producing glycosylated human A1AT, to human alpha-1 antitrypsin obtained by these methods and to uses thereof. The methods of the invention result in a A1AT that has a human glycosylation pattern or that has a modulated glycosylation pattern. Thus, the present invention enables the production of A1AT with a "customized" glycosylation status which is suitable for different uses, preferably in human therapy.
