[origin: WO2009010336A1] The invention relates to a method for the regeneration of at least one particle agglomerator (1) of an exhaust gas after-treatment system (2) of an internal combustion engine (3) of a motor vehicle (4), wherein the internal combustion engine (3) is operated in at least one operating phase such that a sufficient portion of nitrogen dioxides (NO2) is directly produced in the exhaust gas in order to ensure a conversion of particles (5) containing carbon in the at least one particle agglomerator (1). The invention further provides a motor vehicle suitable for carrying out the method.
