[origin: WO2008155375A1] The invention relates to a radial shaft seal for sealing a closed inner chamber (K) filled with a fluid medium (M) on a rotating shaft (W) that is guided through a receiving opening (2) out of the inner chamber (K) with respect to an external atmosphere (A), the seal comprising two membrane bodies (3, 4), each enclosing a sealing membrane (5) having a sealing lip (6) positioned obliquely to the inner chamber (K), wherein the two sealing lips (6) can be sealingly applied to the shaft (W) at a distance from each other, and a support device (7) for supporting the membrane bodies (3, 4) resting thereon. In order to improve the service life and reduce internal pressure, it is proposed that the two membrane bodies (3, 4) are disposed at a distance from each other over the entire courses thereof, and that the supporting device (7) comprises a supporting body (8) disposed between the membrane bodies (3, 4).
