Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2009007002A1] In order to automatically set, in a weight-dependent manner, a restoring force exerted on a rest (2) in the case of a chair, in particular an office chair which is provided with a synchronous mechanism, provision is made for the restoring force to be transmitted to the rest support (12) via an articulation element (22), wherein a lever length is defined between the articulation element (22) and a rest rotation axis (24), wherein a greater lever length is set as the weight burden increases. In order to fix the set effective lever length, provision is advantageously made of a blockable gas compression spring (30) which prevents the effective lever length changing in the blocked position.
