Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2020611A1] The fiber has a core (4) surrounded by a cladding (1) with honeycomb type hexagonal shaped longitudinal inclusions (2, 3) whose refractive indices are higher and lower than a refractive index of background material of the cladding, respectively. The inclusions are arranged to obtain a guide that guides a quasi-Gaussian type functional mode of a light by total internal reflection. The mode and a functional mode guided in a photonic bandgap, respect specific relationships comprising parameters such as wavelengths belonging to the modes, integer m and a fiber`s effective refractive index value. The inclusion (2) is made of telluride glass or chalcogenide glass.
