[origin: WO2009015765A1] The invention relates to a system comprising a plurality of fiber optic distribution devices, said system having a first number of logical groups of fiber optic distribution devices, wherein each logical group comprises a second number of fiber optic distribution devices and wherein: a) in order to guarantee a structured wiring of fiber optic assemblies within a logical group of fiber optic distribution devices, only two lengths of prefabricated patch cable are provided, namely, a first length that is designed for wiring fiber optic assemblies within a fiber optic distribution device, and a second length that is designed for wiring fiber optic assemblies between fiber optic distribution devices located at a maximum distance from one another within the respective logical group. When it is necessary to wire fiber optic assemblies between fiber optic distribution devices within the same logical group that are not located at a maximum distance from one another, the corresponding excess length of the patch cable designed for the maximum distance may be deposited inside the respective target fiber optic distributor device in an excess length storage device of the target fiber optic distribution device; b) in order to guarantee a structured wiring of fiber optic assemblies of two different logical groups of fiber optic distribution devices, a length of prefabricated patch cable is provided that is designed for wiring fiber optic assemblies of fiber optic distribution devices located in the two logical groups at a maximum distance from one another. When it is necessary to wire fiber optic assemblies of fiber optic distribution devices in the two logical groups that are not located at a maximum distance from one another, the corresponding excess length of the patch cable designed for the maximum distance may be deposited inside the respective target fiber optic distributor device in an excess length storage device of the target fiber optic distribution device.
