[origin: WO2009015989A1] The present invention relates to a method for checking a position message (a,ß) of a vehicle (A,B) emitted from a vehicle (A,B), comprising the steps: Transmitting a short-range signal (10a, 10b) with a first position (a,ß) and a first identity (a',ß') of the first vehicle (A,B) from a first transmission and receiving device to a second transmission and receiving device; transmitting a long-range signal (12a, 12b) with the received first position (a,ß) and first identity (a',ß') of the first vehicle (A,B) and the provided second position (a,ß) and second identity (a',ß') of the second vehicle (A,B) from the second transmission and receiving device to a central evaluation device(Z); determining whether the received first position (a,ß) corresponds to the received second position by means of the central evaluation device (Z); and detecting that at least one of the vehicles (A,B) with the first and the second identities (a',ß') emits a wrong position message (a,ß), if the received first position (a,ß) does not correspond to the second position.
