[origin: EP2177860A1] The firearm has a firing mechanism containing a selection control (37) arranged to enable a firearm to function in a closed bolt firing mode, an open bolt firing mode, an automatic firing mode or a semi-automatic firing mode. A percussion mechanism activates a firing pin (10) enabling semiautomatic and automatic firing. A slide catch (36) enables a slide (7) to be held in a retracted position. The percussion mechanism obtains a synchronization enabling the firearm to function in a reversible manner in the closed bolt mode or open bolt mode according to the position of the selection control.
