Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2178313A2] The method involves determining a speech intelligibility threshold by a hearing device, and exchanging data between the hearing device and an external unit. The determined speech intelligibility threshold is compared with a reference value that is stored in the hearing device or external unit. A hearing device parameter is adapted with the hearing device based on the comparison result. The speech intelligibility threshold is determined with a modulated noise, and basic setting of the hearing device parameter is performed by an audiogram. The hearing device parameter is selected from a group consisting of a time constant of compression, a time constant of fading in and fading out of noise reduction, omni cross fading or directional cross fading. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an external unit comprising a control unit (2) a computer program product comprising a computer program for executing a method for adapting a parameter of a hearing device.
