[origin: EP2179863A1] The method involves applying an unvarnished decorative paper (102) on a surface of a carrier plate (100), and laminating the paper with the carrier plate. A melamine resin layer (103) is applied on the laminated paper as a sealing functional layer. A layer structure is compressed between upper and lower press plates (1, 11) of a short-cycle press under influence of heat and pressure to melt the resin layer. A film (8) provided with slots and/or ridges is arranged below the upper plate. The molten resin is smoothly adapted to the slots and/or ridges to form a structure after curing the resin. An independent claim is also included for a pressing device for pressing and structuring a carrier plate.
