[origin: EP2179934A2] The device (10) has a base plate (14) with a straight side edge (42), and a covering plate (20) with a straight side edge (46) that is connected to the side edge of the base plate. The plates comprise respective cushion layers (16, 22) at a side that is turned towards an object (12), and a radio frequency identification transponder has a memory device. The cushion layers are designed, such that the object is held in a non-slip manner with respect to a lateral displacement, when the covering plate is in a closed position and a partial area of the object is arranged between the plates. An independent claim is also included for a packaging system comprising a retaining device for retaining a packaging device.
