[origin: EP2180274A2] The heat pump (4) has a primary circuit (6) for a primary fluid (P), and a heat exchanger (8,10) which is used as condenser or compressor depending on the selected operating mode. A switching arrangement is provided in the secondary circuit (12,14), by which the flow direction of the heat exchanger fluid is adjusted by the heat exchanger depending on the selected operating mode. The primary fluid and the heat exchanger fluid are guided into each operating mode by the heat exchanger in the counter flow principle. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a heat pump.
