[origin: WO2009007135A2] The invention relates to an artificial surfing installation for production of a standing wave, having a sloping ramp (50) to whose upper end water is fed by means of at least one pump (44) and whose lower end (52) opens into a wave trough (30). A standing wave is achieved in a simple manner in that the lower end of the ramp (50) is mounted in a wave trough (30) which has a liquid level above that of a surrounding main trough (20), with the amount of water in the wave trough (30) in conjunction with a defined overflow (36) from the wave trough to the main trough (20) producing a defined resistance to the water flowing off the ramp (50), which resistance results in the formation of the standing wave (60).
