[origin: EP2181684A1] The bed, particularly hospital or home care bed (10), has a bed frame (20) with two side portions (26) at the lateral sides, a head portion (22) at a headboard (21) and a foot portion (24) at a footboard (23). A mattress support device (30) is divided in a footboard side portion (30b) and a headboard side portion (30a) along a dividing level (44) running parallel to the foot and head portions. The bed frame is divided in a footboard side bed frame portion (20b) and a headboard side bed frame portion (20a) along another dividing level running parallel to the former dividing level.
