[origin: EP2182782A2] The arrangement has two connections (16a, 16b) connected to an electronic ballast (12). The ballast differentiates loads connected to the connections, so that an analysis result is obtained. The ballast controls a lamp (10) connected to the ballast based on the result. A control device (18) attached to the connections is operated at the voltage lying at the connections and comprises a clock. The control device is in a position in which the load lying between the connections is changed by an electronic control based on information or signals, where the information is provided by the clock. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a lamp.
