[origin: EP2184116A1] The method involves positioning sheet metal parts in an area of rotary axis of a tool upper part with a stamp (15) and a tool lower part with a punching tool (14). The tool upper part is descended, and a lower position of the tool upper part is maintained. The tool upper part and the tool lower part are rotated. The tool upper part is moved upwardly. The stamp is driven in a lower end position so that a sheet metal part is clamped between the stamp and the tool lower part. The stamp is driven in the lower end position so that the sheet metal part is punched between the stamp and the tool.
