[origin: WO2009048494A1] A method which renders the 3D surface of the insides of the pores of a porous silicon biochlp appropriate for conducting studies on biomolecule interactions without labels. The method comprises: converting the Sl-H surfaces to silica surfaces; silanizing the silica surface to produce silane surfaces; and coating the silane surface with an Intermediate moiety to minimize non specific binding.
