[origin: WO2009024404A1] Spreader for accommodating a container (10) at the corner fittings (12) thereof by means of twistlocks (16) fitted on the spreader (18) which have associated pivotable guides (flippers 24) with pivoting arms, which are connected to a motor drive. The motor drive has an electric motor, which is connected, via a gear mechanism, preferably a radial toothed gear mechanism, to a drive shaft (32), which rotates the respective pivoting arm (36) and is coupled to the pivoting arm (26) via an energy-saving torsion damping coupling (30).
