[origin: WO2009027341A1] A safety device for improving the water safety of a water-conducting domestic appliance (1), especially a dishwasher or washing machine, comprises a control (14) for controlling an evacuation pump (8), a main switch (16), electrically connected to the control (14), and a water safety switch (22) which reacts to the unwanted leakage of water and which has at least one first switched position, the main switch (16) and the water safety switch (22) having respective connections to electrical mains (18), and the main switch (16), when switched on, connecting the control (14) to the electrical mains (18). The invention is characterized in that the water safety switch (22) has an electrical connection to the control (14) and switches to a first switched position when there is an unwanted leakage of water and connects the control (14) to the electrical mains (18).
