Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2009021825A1] A tachograph (2) is proposed which stores driver-related and/or vehicle-related data (D) in digital form in an internal memory and has an interface for transmitting the data (D) to external devices (3), in which the interface is an interface (8) which is configured in a freely accessible fashion on the front panel (2) of the tachograph (2) and which is configured for the transmission of authentication data (A) and for the transmission of data (D) independently thereof. Likewise, an arrangement which is equipped with said tachograph (2) and a method which is carried out with said tachograph (2) for the purposes of transmitting data, in particular for downloading data by remote data interrogation are proposed. The interface (8) is preferred for the transmission of authentication data (A) and of driver-related and/or vehicle-related data (D) in accordance with a standardized remote data interrogation protocol, in particular what is referred to as the remote download protocol (RDP), as a result of which the corresponding functionalities can be made easily and directly accessible in a user-friendly fashion via the interface on the front side of the tachograph device. As a result, for example the company card (32) can also be removed after the authentication, and the data download which is time-consuming per se can be carried out without the card. The card (32) can therefore still be used for a further download in another vehicle while the download is running.
